Irish Chain Quilt
Description:
This quilt was commissioned as a 40th birthday present and incorporated childhood fabrics. The large and small strawberry print fabrics were leftover from dresses that the customer had worn as a child, and this was combined with red Laura Ashley floral fabric from the same time. I cut the fabrics into 2 ½”squares and pieced them into a pattern known as ‘irish chain’. The pattern dates from the early 1800s and may have been inspired by a geometric weaving design popular in Ireland. I kept the quilting light so as not to detract from the pattern. The lap quilt size is great for snuggling on the sofa, curling up with a book or using as a bed topper.

Backing: 100% cotton in white with feature panel
Wadding: Super soft polyester wadding, machine washable at low temperatures & quick to dry
